Newly listed companies, merger months and bonus or split months are left out, so every entry is a fund house choosing to buy or sell out. Fund houses count once however many of their schemes hold the company.

CompanySectorSizeOwned by fundsBought or sold, same schemesFund housesDays of trading

When funds own a large part of a company, their buying and selling can move its price, and many of them may want to sell at the same time. The share is an estimate: company shares come from AMFI’s six-month average NSE market value divided by the average NSE price, adjusted for later bonuses and splits. It counts the fund houses that disclosed that month, so it rises when more of them disclose; the change column counts only schemes that disclosed in both months.

“Days of trading” is how many average days of all NSE trading in the stock the funds’ holding equals. Selling it without moving the price would take several times longer, since funds are only part of each day’s trading. BSE trading is not counted, so true liquidity is somewhat higher.

How actively funds trade

Twelve-month turnover of each active equity fund’s disclosed Indian shares: the lesser of what it bought and sold, divided by its average equity — SEBI’s definition, estimated from month-end disclosures.

Index funds, ETFs, arbitrage funds and fund of funds are left out of these lists (by name). Month-end snapshots miss buying and selling within a month, so real turnover is higher; these figures compare funds on the same basis. Fund houses with only a few months of disclosures here have no 12-month figure. Method →
